Oakley sold for 2.1 Billion
06/21/2007
Oakley, every waker's favorite eyewear company, just sold for 2.1 Billion. That is, by my count, a shitton of money. Oakley, for those who don't know, was named after founder Jim Jannard's dog. Jim stands to pocket about 1.3 billion for his controlling interest in the company. I could probably retire on that much money.
The buyer is the Italian eyewear company Luxottica - owner of Rayban and Prada. Some Prada edition GasCans would be pretty pimp, I think.
Im curious to see what happens to the Oakely wake team. Maybe time for Lyman and Amber Wing to begin contract renegotiations. If they need a good lawyer, they know where to find me.
